Road Test Appointment Scheduling

Schedule a driver's license road test online or call the DMV customer service center at 311 or (202) 737-4404.

The road test examines your ability to use the turn signal lights, back up in a straight line, and parallel park, among other skills.  If you are 16 or 17, you must take the road test before you can qualify for a provisional license. If you are 18 years and older, you must take the road test to earn a full driver's license.

The DMV has a limited pool of loaner vehicles available for use for your road test subject to availability. The loaner vehicles are equipped with an emergency hand brake located between the seats in compliance with DMV Road Test Vehicle Requirements. If you call to schedule your appointment, please inform the agent that you will need a loaner vehicle. You will need to sign an Indemnity Agreement* in order to use the loaner vehicle.
